lyrics/lines that have stuck out to me

the degree to which i pay attention to lyrics varies a lot, so it's always fun when something sticks out to me more clearly. i had been meaning to prop up this list for enough a file i forgot what lines made me have this thought in the first place! i think it was a patrick wolf song, so i may be able to stumble upon it again sometime? but, a couple other things for starters

• ecco2k's hi fever - baby, you're my beetroot - not the line as such in full, but for some reason i'm enamored by him calling a hypothetical admired someone a beetroot (in addition to grapefruit, a more conventional choice)
• oli xl's hesitate - it's from a deleted verse of it, but thread and plush, but still got a screw loose - it just goes hard

miscellaneous stuff i find cool/sick/banger

• the bit from 3:13 in the libertine by patrick wolf, with the percussion briefly dropping out, sounds so cool
• listening to music at least 2x slowed down (pitch untouched) on foobar2000 thru its dsp component
• arssalendo's energy the one time i've seen him perform live, in oct 2022 (dude's dancing went hard; didn't even record the parts of the set that went hardest!! smh) (to think i caught the set only cos of being a particularly unhinged oli xl fan - travelled to rome mainly to catch oli's set but also to see the city haha)
  did already enjoy tutti ammassati senza affetto prior to then but beholding the stuff live really elevated it for me

• [17jun23] i really do want to listen to new-to-me music more often, but my music listening habits are currently extremely contracted into a narrow state... as an energy-preserving mechanism more than anything. and also the habit of only listening to familiar tunes while outside, if any, and currently it being peak outside time of year. i oughtnt feel bad about this ebb (and i mostly dont).
• [12jun23] want to let go of this lastfm listening recordings semi-perfectionism. wanna get more mileage out of this old mp3 player of mine, theres a charm to just leaving my phone home for a walk n just grabbing that thing... feel too burdened sometimes with my phone, at least while a smartphone
• [22apr23] what would make my mind nicely wiggle the same way oli would .... currently the answer might be samuelspaniel, ingrate, select stuff from arca i guess ... but really in general the question of Who Makes Music Similar To Oli XL would depend on what ur mind be getting from the music

• [30mar23] u know whats fucking funny? greatly vibing w the lyrics of bermondsey street by patrick wolf already in 2012 (when i found out about pw, when i was in middle school; included the looooove knows no boundaries verse in an art class artwork thing i did round then LMAO) but not realizing / finding out im Fucken Queer til a couple/few yrs later

• [23mar23] ecco2k non-dg-related-feats opinion: my fav from that specific angle rn is the oxhy tune (when to stay out), oxhys and eccos vox interplay so tastily in that, damn
• [21mar23] i either rotate the same few tunes/artists day to day or go on absolute music backlog benders (of checking out a bunch of new albums in a day or across a few days) lol. currently on one of such benders. amongst that i finally checked out the new yves tumor album, had fun.
• [05mar23] the malibu live on kexp at home live set video feels lowkey healing. love the ver of one life with vox (one lamb, as it says in video tracklisting)... something about it hits, esp after having seen malibu live irl
• [overarching, '23] like a tru ambient fan i sometimes enjoy the ambience of my surroundings ahahah
• [late feb '23] i hadnt listened to lp by discovery for a while, reminded myself of it, crazy how it's from like 2009 (altho i found out about it somewhat later ofc)

mini-sneekcore, winter '22/23

there's this concept in a discord server i'm in, personcores, where a person would make a little playlist up to an hour long thats about themselves / their tastes / whatever about them basically, and accompany it with a little writeup, either about the whole thing or about each track.
pondering about co-opting the concept slightly for this corner in a more seasonal way; my last.fm stats can only go thus far in nuance. this is the first attempt, rambly as it might be.

(oct 2023 update: my listening has not been very season-tied actually - have simply been busy enjoying music... and rambling elsewhere about my enjoyments)

or basically, the undercurrents and newer persistent winds of the season for me, with some recency bias tbf...
written february 13th 2023. vaguely ordered by time of landing in my realms.

• oli xl! still continuing to listen daily at least a little because my brain isnt letting me have this any other way, but in particular have been listening to ribbon bone (silk chaser) (w/ instupendo) more lately. it's funny, it took me a combined ~1k listens of this and the version on instupendo's album to fully register that there's guitar present in the bridge!! (also: cartoon smile remains in my heart, of course, even thru the ebbs and flows of listening)
  altho also: been listening to oli's loop from plz make it ruins' locked grooves compilation a slightly unreasonable amount at some moments haha, not for unhealthily long at a time tho. it's very oli, even as one 1.8s long bar.
• have also been listening to malibu / dj lostboi a decent amount some of this past while, though more a focus on lostboi... fun fact: it took me some while to find out the two are the same person! anyway, notable favourites: one life by malibu / esprit se by dj lostboi.
• whirled samuelspaniel's music enough in december that he almost overtook oli for the month in my last.fm stats hehe, he's got nice stuff even though none of it is on spotify but it doesn't really deter me. also i like the energy of the lil label he has, boomerang, even tho it mostly has tiny lil releases!! anyway, notable faves: clue, rock ft. golin.
• the evanora unlimited and ecco2k tune, dibiyu, that's on year0001's recent rift two compilation. a little obsessed with how the song sounds, somewhy particularly enamored by the percussion patterns going on haha
• have been listening to screamer by babii a bunch as of quite recent, in particular orbiting around necta, also bit obsessed with the sounds going onnnn (tho i don't listen to this on loop, as i have with dibiyu, so my listening has bled across the album a decent amount)
• a friend put me onto saw the feeling in the heart of things by lucien balconi some time back... it's got a warm feeling to it. listened to ascendant scorpion on loop for a bit the other night in some rly vulnerable nostalgia-tinged heartbroken-at-change-and-passage-of-time state... but still it feels warm.
  
  
• bonus: at work we have radio on from the aux, my manager's go-to is a station that only plays estonian stuff but my go-to on solo days since last autumn has been estonian broadcasting service's classical radio which to be fair doesn't only play classical stuff (some folk and jazz too etc, and some shows focused more on talking about mostly culture-related stuff)... it's nicer on my brain than the more top40-focused stations.
